Charting Pain
Compiled by Melissa Kaplan
Even when one has a "normal" disorder or disease that causes severe or intractable pain, it can be difficult to communicate where it is and how bad it is, especially under the rushed conditions that so many patients experience when hustled into and out of a doctor's office. Another aspect of ongoing chronic illness, especially one that can change over the course of time, getting worse, moving from one body part or system to another, is that we must provide documentation of the illness overtime. This can be useful to us, especially when also suffering from memory impairment and brainfog, as well as our physicians and other health care practitioners, who can quickly review where we've been since we saw them last, and to provide ongoing documentation for long-term disability, workers compensation, and social security disability cases.
